The Mackay Hospital and Health Service (Mackay HHS) based in the beautiful Mackay-Whitsunday Region is focused on future sustainability and building the best regional hospital and health service in Queensland. The HHS services approximately 182,000 people in an area of around 90,000km2 through its six hospitals, two Multi-Purpose Health Services and four community health services, and employs more than 3700 staff. The Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital for smaller facilities at Bowen, Dysart, Clermont, Collinsville, Moranbah and Sarina.
The organisation is now seeking to appoint an Executive Director of Operations Mackay reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Director of Operations Mackay for the operational clinical services and non- clinical support services, providing strategic leadership, direction and day-to- day management of the Mackay Hospital and services within the portfolio, to optimise quality health care and business outcomes.
Key accountabilities include, the effective and efficient delivery of all operational, clinical services, and non- clinical support services for your portfolio. Delivery of effective health promotion and prevention programs to improve the health of the population of Mackay Hospital and Health Service. Appropriate stratification of care needs, to maintain and/or improve patient health and well-being throughout the care journey and delivery of acute services for both planned and unplanned admissions across a diverse range of specialties that are integrated as appropriate.
Currently Staffing and budget responsibilities, are approximately $350 million with 6 direct reports and a staff cohort of around 1750. As an Executive, the position holder contributes effectively to the broad strategic agenda for the organisation. That agenda will encompass the delivery of safe and equitable health services and be a partner in delivering a wide range of services to the population of Mackay and its surrounding areas with the intrinsic intention of improving the health of the people it serves.
